Endangered species is a species threatened to become extinct. The protective regime was gradually established as the world started to be more aware of and sensitive to the risk of disappearance of many kinds of living forms. Resulting from the qualitative shift in developing collective policies aiming at protecting and not merely exploiting the nature, the endangered species regime currently consists of rich institutional environment including the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), or Ramsar Convention.
